Twice now I have received comments about my profile picture. (Not the current one) My previous picture was a self-portrait whilst smoking a cigarette. Some people have suggested that this looked like I was smoking a joint. Not the kind of thing I would do in my role as a WEA organiser. However smoking a roll up is the kind of thing I do and many times a day. I’m not sure if some people thinking that I’m smoking a spliff in my profile picture says more about me or the observer but either way it is not how I should be perceived in my role and is an orgainisational reputation risk.
Smoking, not smoking, at a desk, holiday snap, hair done, just out of bed, somebody else….. All of these things say something about you as the writer of your blog. No profile picture also speaks volumes.
Please enjoy my temporary profile picture. It depicts that maudlin comic genius Tony Hancock. It was quite difficult to find an image of him that was available to use under a creative commons licence and where he is not smoking.
