New Course for 2012

After the success of the last ‘Websites for Voluntary & Community Groups’ course back in December, we’re now gearing up for the latest course which starts next week.

A new cohort of learners are due to boldly go where others have before, and take their first steps into the world of wordpress. For three Friday’s, starting on 27 January (9.30am-3pm), and then on 3 and 10 February, we will be equipping members of voluntary and community groups with all the skills they need to build their own website, for free.

To join this course you need to be at Unit 2, The John Folman Business Centre, 31 Hungerhill Road, Nottingham NG3 4NB by 9.30am on Friday 27 January.

Course Feedback

In December we ran a WEA course in Nottingham called Websites for Voluntary and Community Groups. The three day course was designed to support voluntary and community groups in establishing and maintaining a website using WordPress.

A month on and a quick review of learner’s work showed us this:

The new website for St Anns Advice Centre.

Kelly Coker from St Anns Advice Centre writes

I work for St Anns Advice Centre. We have many clients and are in contact with many big organisations and companies. Previous to my employment a website had been discussed many times, but due to lack of funds and knowledge it never came about. When I joined St Anns Advice I was very keen to work on a website but was unsure of where to begin. We found out about WEA website training through Renewal Trust. The training has helped us to set up a website and given us information on how to keep it running. The staff at WEA have given us support all throughout the training and also thereafter when we have been having some problems. We now have a fully functional website for the general public and our staff thanks to the efforts of WEA and the training they provide and we have managed to do all this free of charge.

The course is very straight forward and the staff fit it to the people in the training so everyone is on the same level and those who know a little more are free to continue experimenting. The staff are very friendly and approachable which makes for an enjoyable and fulfilling learning experience.

We congratulate Kelly on her outstanding work and wish St Anns Advice Centre many years of a problem free, well maintained website.
